Kahvede Başlayan Ney Aşkı
Ney denilince akla gelen ilk isim tabi ki Neyzen Tevfik. 24 Mart 1879 tarihinde Muğla’nın Bodrum ilçesinde dünyaya gelen Tevfik Kolaylı sadece neyzen değil aynı zamanda ülkemizin gelmiş geçmiş en önemli şairlerinden de biri. Taşlamaları ile de tanınan Neyzen Tevfik Bodrum’da doğmuş ancak ömrünün büyük kısmını İstanbul’da geçirmiş ve 28 Ocak 1953 tarihinde İstanbul’da hayata gözlerini yummuş.

Bugün hala yerinde duran Bodrum’un merkezindeki Tepecik Camii’nin yanında yer alan kahvehaneye babası ile beraber giden küçük Tevfik burada ney üfleyen dervişleri görerek ney üflemeye karar verse de babası henüz yaşı küçük olduğu ve ney çalmanın oğlunun derslerine engel olabileceği düşüncesi ile Tevfik’in ney çalmasına izin vermez. Elbette babasının izin vermemesi Tevfik’in ney üflemeye duyduğu ilgiyi yok edememiş ve Urla’ya taşındıklarında henüz 13 yaşındayken bir berber olan neyzen Kazım’dan ders almaya başlamış.
Geçirdiği sara nöbetleri sebebiyle okulu bırakmak zorunda kalan neyzen bu dönemde neyi ile bol bol zaman geçirme şansı yakalamış. Babası okula geri dönmesini sağlasa da tekrarlayan sara nöbetleri eğitimini sürdürmesine olanak tanımayınca Tevfik İzmir Mevlevihanesi’ne gidip kendini tamamen ney çalmaya vermiş. Burada dönemin birçok önemli ismi ile tanışan, Arapça, Türkçe ve Farsça derleri alan neyzen aynı zamanda Şair Eşref’ten hicvi de yine burada öğrenmiş.
İstanbul Yılları
Oğlunun okuması konusunda ısrarcı olan babası Tevfik’i 19 yaşındayken İstanbul’da bulunan Fethiye Medresesi’ne yollamış, ancak tahmin edilebileceği üzere Tevfik zamanının çoğunu okuldan ziyade Yenikapı ve Galata Mevlevihanelerinde geçirmeye başlamış. Burada da dönemin birçok ünlü ismi ile tanışma fırsatı bulan Tevfik kendini iyice geliştirerek ünlü bir neyzen haline gelmiş. Hatta 1900 yılında bir plak dahi doldurmuş.
Her ne kadar ünlü bir ney üstadı olsa da hayatı boyunca yoklukla mücadele eden, hatta Mısır’da bulunduğu yıllarda yokluk nedeni ile çok sevdiği köpeğini dahi satmak zorunda kalan Neyzen Tevfik 1953 yılında vefat ettiğinde arkasında taksimler, taşlamalar, yergiler bıraktı.
